UFC 152: 4 Reasons You MUST Watch

3. "Playa-Hata" Angst Directed at the Champ

The lines have been drawn long before Johnny €œBones€€™ refusal to fight Chael Sonnen on eight days notice. Fans either respect the Light-Heavyweight Champion for his incredible ability and dominant performances, or they hate him for, well, everything. In the eyes of the latter the man can do no right. He dares to be the best fighter on the planet, not just of his era but of any era. He destroys their idols one by one as they spew narrow-minded vitriol in his direction. Fans made up their own reasons for hating on him, he didn€™t need to go and give them one. In turning down a fight that he never signed a contract for €“ against Chael Sonnen at UFC 151 - that is exactly what he did. This time though it wasn€™t just the fans that flooded the internet to point the finger. No, this time the UFC themselves got in on the act. UFC President Dana White€™s public burial of his most important fighter ranks right up there with some of the most bizarre press conference€™s the industry has seen. On Dana€™s past form that is saying something. When he makes his way out through the crowd at the Air Canada Centre, Jon Jones could get the worst reaction of his career. Fervent fans that already had something to say wound up by the most belligerent man in the sport ready to explode. The atmosphere alone could turn the main event into awe-inspiring sporting greatness.
