UFC: 5 Fighters Who Can Beat Chris Weidman

1. Vitor Belfort

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LjQA7u4G2ME Finally we come to Weidman's next opponent the former UFC light heavyweight champion and long time badass Vitor Belfort. After failing to win the title at middleweight against Anderson Silva and light heavyweight against Jon Jones Vitor went on a rampant KO streak. Knocking out his last three opponents with devastating kicks. Many attribute this come back to Belfort's controversial use of Testosterone Replacement Therapy however Vitor insists it was Jesus. At this stage in his career after many ups and downs it finally looks as if Belfort has regained his prime. He has also slowly reinvented himself and added new components to his attack. "Of course, I made some adaptations, as I combined karate with my boxing game. I'm adding a couple of nice things from Shotokan to my game." Vitor Belfort told Marcelo Alonso in an interview back in 2009. We've seen this as Vitor has stopped using his boxing to stand in front of his opponents or blitz them and began to use a more precise and finely tuned attacking style. After training with Lyoto Machida, Belfort claimed to regain interest in Karate and he is beginning to counter more and uses a range similar to Lyoto's. This worked well for him in his last fight against Henderson who rushed in to close the distance missing with a few sloppy shots before being countered by an uppercut and eventually finished. Another thing to keep in mind is that Vitor is a southpaw and his kicking game works best against orthodox fighters like Weidman. Vitor will be a dangerous first test for the young champ who will have an advantage in the wrestling. His best chance is to get the fight to the ground as many have done vs Vitor and break his will or make him gas. However as of late Belfort has not been easily taken down, he has a quick sprawl and as he showed in his fight with Jon Jones can be dangerous off his back. However Vitor is a lot like a turtle (If turtles could kick ass) and will be the least harmful on his back.
