The Hawthorns Ground Guide: 10 Things You Need To Know
5. Look Out For The Throstle
On one corner of the ground there's a large bird - the same character who appears on the Baggies badge - otherwise known as a Throstle. When the previous stand was removed, the clock above the scoreboard that used to be its perch left, but the bird was kept as a mark of tradition. Nice little photo opportunity if you can get anywhere near. Outside, there's a set of gates dedicated to West Brom legend Jeff Astle, and a memorial garden just beyond the East Stand Car Park. There's also a brand new statue outside the East Stand for Baggies legend Tony Brown, who have the club 20 years and has been rewarded with his image in bronze. Another good photo opportunity for away fans who are looking for more than just a sociable few drinks or fifteen.
