West Ham: 10 Reasons Andy Carroll Has Been A Waste Of Money

10. He Has Only Completed One Full Season In The Premier League

Andy Carroll's appearance record in the top division in England is not great to say the least, whether it is to do with injuries, suspensions or just poor form, he has never been able to put a long and consistent run of games together in the top division. However, there is one exception to that rule and that occurred in the 2011/12 season, when he was at Liverpool, where he was able to make 35 Premier League appearances during the season. His next best game total was in the 2010/11 season, where he managed to play 26 league games for Newcastle United and Liverpool. In his other Premier League seasons, Carroll has managed to play a grand total of 81 matches in the top division of English football, which is not a great return considering he has been playing in the division since the 2006/2007 season. Even worse still, in three seasons at West Ham, Carroll has only played in 53 league games out of the 111 total that he could have played, with his game time dropping from 24 games in the 2012/13 season, to 15 games in the following year to 14 games this season. The alarming drop in the number of games he has played is a bad prospect for anyone who has the forward in their squad and unfortunately for West Ham, that is the big problem they have had for the last three seasons.
