Match Preview
Though the glean of an appearance in the FA Cup Final next month continues to shine ever brighter at Wigan, it isn't all smiles for the Latics. They are still trying to clamber out of the relegation zone and with time - and games - running out, things are starting to get a little tense. Mathematically speaking, West Ham aren't even safe from the dreaded drop zone, and if Wigan can suck their rivals into the scrap at the bottom, they will be doing themselves an enormous favour. One man who could help prevent that from happening today though is Andy Carroll. The former Newcastle man has been in electric form of late, having scored four goals in his last six games, and I imagine there are very few Liverpool fans who ever expected to read that statistic. And he's not the only one who could cause Wigan problems. Mohamed Diame could be the difference when he trots out against his old club, while the feeling is Kevin Nolan is overdue a goal or two. Both sides need three points here today, but at least one of them are going to be left disappointed.
Predicted Scoreline
West Ham 2 - 0 Wigan West Ham put in a solid performance against Manchester United midweek and were perhaps unlucky not to have won the game. I expect them to win this one. West Ham have too many players who can hurt the Latics and have lost just one of their last six home games.
