Team News

West Ham will once again be without Joe Cole for this afternoon's visit of Wigan, with the midfielder still struggling with a hamstring problem. Defenders James Tomkins and George McCartney are also out with calf and knee injuries respectively. Wigan have no fresh injury concerns to worry about. This is however the club's third game in a week and manager Roberto Martinez is expected to make changes to freshen up some tired legs. Forward Callum McManaman is one of those in line for a recall, but Roman Golobart remains out with a twisted ankle.

Key Stats

Wigan have won the last two meetings, both on home soil, but are without a win over West Ham in their last four meetings having lost three and drawn one. Wednesday's 2-2 draw with league leaders Manchester United was their third in a row. Andy Carroll has scored four goals in his last six games, including the equaliser in last weekend's 1-1 draw at Southampton. Wigan's 1-0 defeat at Manchester City in midweek was the first time they had failed to score in their last nine Premier League away games. (bbc)
