World Cup 2014: 25 Most Memorable Moments

3. The Suarez Bite

After Suarez€™s best season yet for Liverpool and scoring a brace to effectively knocked England out of the World Cup, you might have thought that the Uruguayan had turned a corner and his previous antics were a thing of the past.

In Uruguay€™s final group game they were 1-0 against the Italians, then Suarez decided to take a bite of Giorgio Chiellini€™s shoulder. This is not the first time Suarez has done this, he bit Ottaman Bakkal of PSV while at Ajax, resulting in a 7 game ban and in the Premier League he got banned for 10 games when he took a bite of Branislav Ivanovic. For his latest offence Suarez got his sternest punishment yet as he was banned from all footballing activity for 4 months.

This latest moment of stupidity proved one moment too many for Liverpool and quickly after Barcelona, who were not put off by the Uruguayan€™s actions, declared their interest and later signed the striker for £75million. But he will have to wait till late October for his debut for the Catalan giants.

Suarez returned to Uruguay to a hero€™s welcome, many thinking that the ban was overly harsh. An apology was later issued to Chiellini for his actions, though he previously tried to claim that he didn€™t bite the defender but just collide with his shoulder.
