World Cup 2014: 5 Reasons Jay Rodriguez Should Go Ahead Of Danny Welbeck

1. Comparing The Two Players In Age And Footballing Experience

One of the reasons that it€™s hard to decide between the two players is because they are so similar in so many ways. Another one of those is age with Welbeck being 23 and Rodriguez is 24, but the two players have had two very different routes to the top. I would say that Welbeck has always had quite a comfortable life that has consisted of coming through the youth system at Man Utd and playing Premier League games for the current champions. Although, he has had a couple of loan spells away from Old Trafford; it€™s only been a handful of games with Preston North End that has seen him play outside of the EPL. Rodriguez€™s route to the top has seen him come through the youth system at Burnley and play his share of Championship football in order to get his chance at EPL level. I personally think that England needs more of this type of player, rather than the ones that have always had things fairly easy. So, if you were picking an England squad tomorrow, which player should go Welbeck or Rodriguez?
