10 Huge Revelations You Missed From Star Trek: Prodigy
5. Wormholes! Time Travel!
Some of Star Trek's most memorable moments have been borne out of two huge sci-fi concepts.
DS9 itself was parked right beside the Bajoran Wormhole, and the Barzan wormhole appeared twice in the franchise. In Prodigy, a wormhole is responsible for the chronological displacement of the Protostar and the catalyst for the overarching story of season one.
It also evokes memories of Enterprise's Temporal Cold War, allowing the Vau N'Akat passage to track down the starship, thus paving the way for the destruction of Starfleet, via their Living Construct.
Season one appears only to be the start of such adventures, with the second part of Supernova suggesting that these themes are going to be a core part of the story.
The opening of a new distortion to what must be 52 years in the future allows all sorts of possibilities for the series. Travel to the future does give Prodigy the chance of stretching its legs outside of the 24th Century, while still keeping well clear of Discovery's 32nd Century antics.
