10 Perfect Star Trek Gifts For The Trekkie In Your Life
Just don't open the boxes!
The holidays can be hard enough with the mad rush for presents, but if you're buying for a Trekkie and don’t know the first thing about Star Trek, you might want to say bah humbug to the lot of it! The thing is, in the 24th century and beyond, they probably just replicate their gifts, which certainly gives new meaning to 'it's the thought that counts' and no doubt puts Santa out of a job.
Fear not! Whether you know the franchise or not, we've prepared a list of the Trekiest items sure to satisfy even the most hardcore of fan friends. We've given you just enough information to fake the explanations as they're unwrapping.
We've selected a few main gift ideas, and then in case you can't get your hands on those, we've provided one or two optional extras on the same theme. You'll also find all of the links to each item embedded in the text of the entry itself. Don't say we don't spoil you at Christmas!
Mum, if you're reading, this is what I meant the other day by 'STAAAR TREEEEK'!
10. Star Trek: Lower Decks Pop! Funkos
Nothing says the holidays like 'your items will arrive after 14th January 2024,' as is the case for the Star Trek: Lower Decks Pop! Funkos. However, if you've got the budget for it, you might still want to pre-order them before stocks run out. Sure, your special someone might feel more like they've received the 'Star Wars 30th Anniversary Early Bird Certificate' on Christmas Day, but they'll be grateful to get their Funk on eventually.
The collection consists of miniaturised vinyl versions of all the lower deckers Beckett Mariner, Bradward Boimler, D'Vana Tendi, Samanthan Rutherford, and even the evil Badgey (even he still needs some love over the holographic holidays). Thankfully, there is no Peanut Hamper in the set.
Sticking with the Funko fun, some of you might have already grabbed a 2023 Convention Limited Edition Geordi La Forge. If you did miss out, you can still head to eBay to buy this season one Lieutenant (junior grade) La Forge in red when, as the product description gives it, he "[rose] to the occasion and [took] his place in the captain's chair!" (in The Arsenal of Freedom). While you're at it, why not treat the fan in your life to another exclusive, this time from the Star Trek Shop. Blow their minds more than a Ceti Eel by giving them a Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan Khan Funko Pop! 40th Anniversary Limited Edition Figure.
