10 Reasons To Greenlight Star Trek: Legacy NOW

4. The Return

The finale of Picard's third season included that key mid-credits scene, returning Q to the fray, bookmarking the infamous Trial That Never Ends.

It's almost as if that storyline has written itself. Having tormented Picard, Janeway and just dipping his toe at Deep Space Nine, Q has a more apt target set in his sights with Jack Crusher.

The apparent "death" of Q in the second season of Picard looked to be the final page in that story but that's what happens when you're being so linear. While Q might have chosen to reunite with his favourite plaything/foil/begrudging friend, it makes a lot of sense that his existence would see him at different stages in different times but not necessarily in that systematic order.

Again it's a matter of striking while there is fervent interest in a Legacy series because if it's left too long then that twist of a mid-credits scene will become nothing more than a tantalising "what if..." that was never fully explored.

The challenge is that with so many projects on the go at the moment there may simply not be enough space to cater for the show and put it into production. It could take until the completion of the Section 31 movie before the continuing voyages of the Enterprise are greenlit which could be another two years easily...

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
