10 Ships We Need To See In Star Trek: Legacy

The return of the D was prolific, iconic, galaxy-breaking.

As time has passed, there have been updates to the design, and new classes to replace it such as the Ross. Still, there's something magical about that 1980s Andy Probert styling.

Fans will also know that the biggest change to the D, aside from that altercation on Veridian III, was the future twist from All Good Things...

Boasting a third warp engine, a weapon "o" mass destruction, and more extras than Xibit and West Coast Customs could manage, it made shorter than short work of two Negh'Var Class cruisers on the way to rescuing the crew of the USS Pasteur.

As this will now be an older spaceframe, a future series (let's call it Legacy) could have the chance to work in a Galaxy Class as some sort of testbed for the technology viewers saw back in the TNG finale. After all, the Star Trek: The Next Generation Technical Manual gives the ship a potential lifespan of 100 years with major overhauls needed every 20.

It might not be the Enterprise/Syracuse that gets the makeover but there's still the Galaxy and the Venture, both named in canon yet unaccounted for. This is also a perfect chance to get that new/old bridge set back out for more adventures.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
