10 Ships We Need To See In Star Trek: Legacy

5. USS Aventine

The Vesta Class has been a long-time staple of Beta canon. Though the Luna-class USSTitan has appeared in Lower Decks, as well as clear references to it in Picard, its literary starship cousin has yet to make a screen appearance.

Featuring up to the Coda trilogy, the slipstream-capable USS Aventine proved to be a fan favourite. This was helped in no small part by its commanding officer, Ezri Dax, who ascended to the centre seat during the cataclysmic events of the Destiny trilogy.

Mark Rademaker designed the Aventine and the sleek starship has been released as part of the Eaglemoss collection. The franchise now boasts the slipstream-capable USS Dauntless in Prodigy and the protostar-driven USS Protostar. The time has come to show how widespread the improvements to propulsion have become in Starfleet.

Seven ships of the class were in service in the novels, and each was named (except the Vesta!) after the seven hills of Rome. Classed as a multi-mission surveillance explorer, the Vesta Class would be a worthy addition to Legacy.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
