10 Star Trek Characters Who Died Off-Screen

4. Ambassador Krajensky

Odo may indeed be the first Changeling to ever harm another but the shapeshifters aren't afraid to do some dirty work when the mood takes them.

A prime example is Ambassador Krajensky, played by Lawrence Pressman. From the jump, the ambassador has already been replaced, ready now to get to work on the Defiant. As the story comes to a close, there is no sign of the original man anywhere.

He gets a place here thanks to the fifth season's In Purgatory's Shadow and By Inferno's Light two-parter. They show that both General Martok and Doctor Bashir were replaced by Changelings with their "real" versions holed up on a prison asteroid.

This in turn suggests that instead of killing anyone they decided to impersonate, the Dominion were capturing anyone they saw. As Ambassador Krajensky's abduction occurred some 18 months to 2 years prior to this, his fate seems a little at odds with their usual MO.

Having said that, the Changeling who did replace him was more than willing to injure Odo aboard the Defiant, despite the assurances that 'no Changeling had ever harmed another.' Could this have been a rogue agent, acting outside the norm? Only the Founders truly know.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
