10 Star Trek Characters Who Died Off-Screen

Here's the curveball entry for this list.

The communications and linguistics expert on the NX-01, Hoshi Sato would be a key part of the crew for the duration of the prequel series.

During season four's In a Mirror, Darkly, a graphic aboard the captured, universe-hopping USS Defiant confirmed that Sato died on Tarsus IV when starvation - and then genocide - ravaged the population.

Viewers accepted that most of the crew of the NX-01 would not still be alive in the time of The Original Series - almost one hundred years had passed after all - though is a rare occasion where the passing of one of said characters was confirmed.

Tarsus IV was the realm of one Kodos the Executioner. He acted to "save" as many as he could during the famine that swept the populace by killing those he saw as unfit to survive.

This information would only show up on this one graphic, though it still cements a horrid fact that Sato and her family died while one James T. Kirk would be among those who lived to tell of the events.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
