10 Worst Star Trek Moments In 2023

For what could have been an immense celebration of 50 years of The Animated Series, the resulting Very Short Treks did not come out quite as fans may have desired.
While the Aaron J Waltke-penned Holograms All the Way Down touched base with every series respectfully, with Prodigy getting represented as well, the remaining four were a mixed bag.
Taking a dig at political correctness gone too far may have fallen flat, though the strange Riker/Scotty/Tendi/Sulu musical ensemble certainly wasn't stepping too far outside the box. The other segments, alas, didn't even make that grade.
The troubling Holiday Party did see the return of Bruce Horak as Hemmer but using Spock to narrate a series of cringe-worthy bloopers, mixed in with fart gags, didn't seem in the spirit of Star Trek in any way. Worst Contact's followed up with more bodily function jokes at the expense of Riker and Crusher, making fans reach for the sickbag.
Blooper.
They're all classed as being outside of canon so Trekkies can take them or leave them. The choice to bring in actors from across the franchise was a brilliant move, though mishandled. Missing the heart and soul of Star Trek, these few minutes did encompass all corners of the franchise on screen, yet somehow failed to celebrate all that was good about its first and eternally underrated foray into the world of animation.
