Teased before its release, Resurgence brings a new crew into Star Trek as well as more familiar faces.

Drawing on the TNG cast, Jonathan Frakes steps onboard the Resolute by voicing Captain William T Riker of the USS Titan. Although his role is perhaps not as significant as fans might have been led to believe, it's a key string to tie the game to the larger Star Trek universe and the time period in which the game is set.

The larger, and well-hidden, player in proceedings is Ambassador Spock. His arrival in the game is utterly unexpected and naturally brings up the question of who will be tasked with providing the vocals. Step up Piotr Michael who does an impeccable job of channelling his inner Leonard Nimoy for what is a pivotal role in Resurgence.

While he does get a mention elsewhere in this list it's also worth a hat tip to the Tkon Portal Six Three played this time around by Mark Rolston. Himself a Trek veteran, fans will recognise him as Waler Pierce from Eye of the Beholder as well as Kuroda in Enterprise's Canamar and as Klingon Magh in The Augments.

Voice actor Debra Wilson previously played Klingon captain Trij in Prodigy's Supernova season one finale, and more recognisably as Captain Lisa Cusack in DS9's The Sound of Her Voice. Here she plays both the Resolute's doctor and the Hotari Queen.

Finally, Julianne Grossman tops out the returnees to the franchise playing the ship computer as she has done before on Discovery as both the NCC-1031 and the USS Enterprise.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
