Star Trek: 10 Secrets About The USS Enterprise-F You Need To Know

4. Size Of It Now

The Enterprise-F marks a further increase in the size of the famous namesake, although it would be the last to sequentially do so. The Enterprise-G is a smaller vessel that has more in common with its Constitution Class heritage, reflecting Starfleet's lack of requirement at this time for gigantic vessels.

The only Enterprise that comes in at a larger scale is the Doug Drexler designed Universe Class Enterprise-J, briefly glimpsed as that tantalizing schematic in Enterprise's Xindi arc.

The Enterprise-F clocks in at 1061m long while the E was 685m long, with the D 641m. This easily makes the Odyssey Class the largest operational ship up to this point in the Prime timeline. It does have fewer decks than the D at 32 as opposed to 48 but offers a lengthier and more streamlined silhouette in the process. This makes the F around two and a half times longer than the original NCC-1701, which itself had 23 decks to fit 430 crew.

Just for fun, the USS Vengeance would still dwarf the F at a whopping 1450m and carry potentially up to 6000 crew. But hey, that's for another universe and another day.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
