Star Trek: 10 Top Secret Artefacts At Daystrom Station

3. B-4

Nearly as dismissed as Nemesis itself, the late introduction of Soong prototype B-4 allowed a backdoor escape for Data following his death aboard the Scimitar.

It would be a backdoor that was only pried open some 20 years later midway through the third and final season of Picard but it was there nonetheless. Data's return would be realised through the awakening of the Soong golem, but B-4's remains also made their way there.

Fans will recall that B-4's parts were last seen stored at the Daystrom Institute on Earth when Jean-Luc was investigating the appearance of Dahj Asha. Between then (2399) and the opening of season three (two years later in 2401), B-4 has been moved off planet to the more secure facility where the minds of all of Soong's works have been combined into one entity.

The pre-Lore android's personality never actually resurfaced in Picard although it's interesting to note that the parts used in the show were the same as the ones used in Nemesis itself.

Disassembled once more in the central vault of the Daystrom Station, B-4 unceremoniously sat alongside the more human than human M-5-10 Soong-type creation that would bring back one of Star Trek's most beloved - and missed - characters.

A Star Trek fan from birth, I love to dive into every aspect of the franchise in front and behind the screen. There's something here that's kept me interested for the best part of four decades! Now I'm getting back into writing and using Star Trek as my first line of literary attack. If I'm not here on WhatCulture then you're more than welcome to come and take a look at my blog, Some Kind of Star Trek at http://SKoST.co.uk or maybe follow me on Twitter as @TheWarpCore. Sometimes I force myself not to talk about Star Trek.
