Star Trek: 10 Weirdest Holodeck Episodes

7. 11001001

Without missing a bit, we've all tried (and probably failed) to recall what is undeniably one of the most unusual episode titles in all of Star Trek. If you do have trouble remembering it, you'll be thrilled to discover that 11001001 of Star Trek: The Next Generation's first season was, in fact, called 10101001 in earlier drafts of the script. For the 8-bit binary sequence that was chosen, there are several solutions, but only really one interpretation that fits. Each Bynar has a bit pair name (like One One), and there are always two Bynars together in a unified pair (like One Zero and Zero One). The title is, therefore: One One with Zero Zero; One Zero with Zero One.

Now, here's a quick question from the Starfleet entrance exam:

If there is any kind of potential problem with the antimatter containment fields, you should…

a) Keep on painting

b) Notify the Captain and First Officer immediately

c) Not try to contact the Captain and First Officer until things get much much worse, because they've got far more important things to do like chatting up a hologram on the holodeck

d) Blame Wesley

Well, we hope you answered correctly because Data and Geordi certainly didn't. Meanwhile, Minuet's keeping Riker and Picard busy with some questionable French. Plus, let's just hope she was lying when she professed her love for jazz. Not purging all that loosey-goosey out of the system again!

Jack Kiely is a writer with a PhD in French and almost certainly an unhealthy obsession with Star Trek.
