Star Trek: Every Bridge Ranked Worst To Best

3. "Urgh, Orange!" USS Enterprise (NCC-1701)

We'd been here before...

After the Kelvinverse Enterprise's bridge somewhat fell short of expectations, hopes weren't particularly high that the set designers would hit the mark for DISCO's iteration of the classic set. However, it turned out that they had the same feelings towards the 2009 design. After too much straying from the original 1966 aesthetic, DISCO's team were insistent not make that same mistake.

Designers went to town and produced the same layout, button aesthetics, Spock's Scanner, and even the original Captain's chair. So desperate were they to pay tribute to TOS, that Temara Deverall's team even recreated the same colour of paint, (dubbed 'Enterprise Red', despite looking orange on 1966 TV sets).

In post-production, sound designers even added all of those old-school effects that we know and love--as well throwing in as a couple of The Wrath of Khan nautical-esque beeps for good measure.

Of course, a few liberties were taken--a corridor was added around the bridge and the scale was dramatically increased although the former was removed and the colour palette warmed for Strange New Worlds, which takes place in-universe after another retrofit.

Looking at it, you can easily see how this bridge will become that of Captain James T. Kirk's by the time he takes command. It might not be as cramped as the TOS set but carries the intrinsic feeling that, had the 1960's production crews had the capability, then they would also have gone in this direction.

Plus, there's jellybean buttons, and how could you not like those?

David has finally gotten his act together and written a bio. The only trouble is, it's not very good...
