Star Trek: Every Bridge Ranked Worst To Best
14. "Warp Me!" - USS Cerritos (NCC-75567)
Yep, the California Class has once again received the harsh end of the stick. After being completely omitted from the Season 3 finale of Star Trek: Picard, (try as we might, we couldn't find any in the supposedly entire fleet) the Cali ships now hold the distinction of not being too high on our list.
There isn't anything particular wrong with the bridge featured in Star Trek: Lower Decks. As with many other aspects of the show, the aesthetics are mostly borrowed from The Next Generation era. Even the Cerritos' bridge has a similar arrangement and scheme to the Enterprise D--with a metallic panel replacing the wooden arch, and less red in the carpet. It's less homage and more old-hat. Viewers can instantly recognise that this is a less modernised ship-- atypical for Starfleet's attitude to the Cali-class in general.
The main reason why the Cerritos bridge is so far down the list, is because it should be. It is the only Star Trek series which isn't centred around the senior officers, and so we shouldn't spend much time hanging around their postings. After all, the show is called Lower Decks, meaning that the less time we spend in the highest deck, the better.
Yet, as the show has progressed, so too have its characters. Now that the central four are Lieutenant Junior Grades (or Lieutenant JGs) they are placed on the bridge more often, which means subtle improvements in its look have also appeared...
