With the exception of a brief scene during Season 1's finale (that was just a rotated and re-dressed Discovery set), a 25th Century bridge finally made an appearance in the opening of Picard's second season. Originally built as the new Stargazer's bridge, the set remained a constant until the final episode--and the reasons why probably stem from just how good it looks.

Ok, you could argue that it is a bit too dark--and you'll find no disagreement here. However, if we play Devil's Advocate, it could be said that it is a reflection of Starfleet's emergence from The Dominion War, the Synth uprising and the destruction of Romulus. So, it can be forgiven for having emo vibes.

As the main setting for all of Picard Season 3, the Stargazer's bridge became the Titan A's--with few aesthetic updates. This was mainly down to the series shooting immediately after the preceding one wrapped. So, whilst the showrunners didn't have time to construct new sets, having less changes helped reaffirm that Starships have uniform designs.

It's bold and futuristic, without straying far from what came before. As with all new series, the aspect ratio is wider and so there is more space to fill. Though the stairs leading to the Captain's chair are a little ostentatious (and even injure poor Shaw), the general look is inspired by, and much improved upon, the TNG-era movies...

And hopefully soon we'll see it again as the Enterprise G's bridge, when Star Trek: Legacy is greenlit...

David has finally gotten his act together and written a bio. The only trouble is, it's not very good...
