Its safe to say that Game Of Thrones was one of the biggest productions of the 2010s. Running for 8 Seasons, it was an unfathomably ambitious project that ending up becoming beloved by the public, and the public in turn made stars out of everyone who starred in the show.

Whilst big name actors such as Charles Dance, Sean Bean, Ian McShane and Jonathan Pryce enjoyed their time in the limelight, lesser known actors who started out in the show were hit incredibly hard by the immense success and popularity, to the point where it started affecting them in negative ways.

Some people just weren't the same when the show was finished. Whilst their stars have yet to wane, these ten actors were hit hard by the fame that came along with being in such a prestigious show. By the end, they either struggled to move on, or their time on the show was such a struggle that they were happy to move on.

10. Jack Gleeson

Jack Gleeson was the face of Game Of Thrones as the sociopathic and psychotic Joffrey Baratheon, 18th king of the Iron Throne. Though beloved by many for his cruel and arrogant performance throughout the show, he has since famously admitted that he didn’t enjoy his time on the show at all. After Joffrey met his end in season 4, Gleeson announced that he was retiring from acting entirely as he didn’t enjoy the lifestyle nor the celebrity status that came with the role.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gleeson stated: “I’ve been acting since age 8. I just stopped enjoying it as much as I used to.” Although Gleeson didn’t give a specific reason of why he wanted to quite acting after Game Of Thrones, part of this may be down to his thoughts on the show and the misogyny featured in it. In a separate interview with The Daily Beast, Gleeson stated: “I think it’s always how you represent that kind of treatment: Are you in some way making it cool, or are you making it into an entertainment product, and is that wrong?"

To this date, he claims that he never watched the show after he was finished with it, but he still catches clips from time to time to see how its doing. Nonetheless, Gleeson quite acting for a while afterwards to focus on himself.
