10 Actors Who Turned Down Iconic TV Roles For Stupid Reasons

6. Oliver Hudson - Jack Pearson (This Is Us)

Brother of actress Kate Hudson and eldest son of Goldie Hawn, Oliver Hudson has had a pretty solid career on TV over the years. With major roles in Nashville, Rules of Engagement and Scream Queens, he's had a steady stream of success since the mid-2000s.

In 2015, he was offered the role of family patriarch and all-round good guy Jack Pearson in the family drama series This Is Us, and was given the chance to audition alongside future star Mandy Moore.

Except, he never turned up to the reading.

Skipping out of the audition to go fishing, he would later admit that he couldn't possibly give up on a good fishing trip because fishing is his "life."

So, whilst the studios were filling the void of his absence with the perfectly cast Milo Ventimiglia, Oliver Hudson was out on a lake putting in his fishing hours, missing a major career opportunity.
