10 Actors You Won't Believe Were Nearly Cast In Friends

3. Leah Remini - Monica

The wonderful Leah Remini was presumably considered for the part of Monica back during the "she should be kind of like Janeane Garofalo" stages, because this actress is far more at home with snarky, sarcastically-minded characters, and doesn't really fit the description of the Monica that we all know and love now (obviously the part was remoulded around Courtney Cox's personality when they decided to cast her). You'll know Remini, of course, as Carrie from sitcom King of Queens, on which she starred - alongside Kevin James - for nine seasons. Imagining this actress in the Friends line-up is strange, though, given that there doesn't really seem to be another place for the sort of dry, quipping character that she presumably would have ended up playing, given that we've already got a Chandler, and too much sarcasm might've been something akin to overkill. Can you imagine those two as a couple? No thank you. Die hard fans of the show will recall that Remini does appear in a single episode of Friends, however: Joey helps her give birth to a baby in season one's "The One With The Birth." Hilarious!
