10 Amazing Sci-Fi TV Shows You Need To Stop Sleeping On

A DC Universe original series (in its first season at least), Stargirl has been an absolute joy to watch since it first arrived earlier this year.

Perhaps the most underrated superhero series in quite some time, it's based on the eponymous DC Comics character and follows Courtney Whitmore as she comes to terms with the fact that her stepfather used to be Starman's sidekick. It then chronicles her own journey down that same path as she takes on the mantle of Stargirl - wielding her predecessor's Cosmic Staff and founding a second generation of the Justice Society of America in order to combat the Injustice Society.

Stargirl has received incredibly positive reviews and its second broadcast on The CW is a ratings hit but it still doesn't feel like enough people are talking about it. DC Universe fans may find it too light-hearted for them while The CW's audience may not give it a chance as it technically isn't one of the network's Arrowverse shows, but the truth is that the writing, production values and overall enjoyment factor is of a much higher standard than both.

Watching Stargirl feels like you're watching a big-budget superhero movie and, more importantly, it feels like you're watching something special. And given that we're living in a superhero-heavy era, that in itself is pretty special.
