10 Amazing TV Shows That Began As Mid-Season Replacements

10. Bob's Burgers

In an animated landscape utterly dominated by all of Seth MacFarlane's comedies, it's difficult to avoid comparisons with those juggernauts. And while Bob's Burgers shares a time period and arguably an animation style with shows like American Dad, Family Guy and The Cleveland Show, the sense of humour and thematic elements are very different. In fact, Bob's Burgers has a lot more in common with a show like King Of The Hill than the MacFarlane comedies. There's a certain warmth to their lighthearted teasing that is a far cry from the antagonistic behaviour exhibited in Family Guy. Yes, all of the Belchers are well aware that Tina is an odd bird going through an unusually awkward phase, but they're all in her corner when it really counts. You never get the sense that her family feels anything but love for her, unlike poor Meg Griffin. Although Bob's Burgers had a shaky beginning for about half of the first season, it didn't take very long before critics started to sing its praises. Now in its fifth season, Bob's Burgers can be fairly considered one of the funniest shows on television, animated or otherwise.
