10 Annoying New TV Characters Only Added To Boost Ratings

7. Seven - Married... With Children

By Season 7 of Married with Children, both of the kids were actually college aged, and so once again it was time to bring in a random new character for some cuteness and to add the "children" back into the title. Seven is another sitcom kid who's dropped off out of nowhere, this time by Peggy's cousins. Alright, sure.

As it turns out, introducing a new child character out of the blue never appears to work, and fans freaking hated Seven. Unlike some of these other examples, though, the writers saw how unreceptive the audience was of the new character, and so they very quickly tried to correct their mistake by writing him out of the show.

They didn't even bother wasting time giving him a sendoff: Seven completely disappears, and nobody ever says what happened to him, although there are a few little winks and nods to this later in the series. In one episode, Kelly is studying for a trivia game, and you see a bunch of information she forgets, one of which is the existence of Seven. In another episode, he appears on a carton of milk. The writers clearly understood it was weird for him to just disappear, but they probably also realized that having an episode saying goodbye to this character everyone absolutely despised would just be a waste of everyone's time.
