8. Piper Chapman - Orange Is The New Black

What does it say about a TV show when the protagonist is actually the worst thing about it? Though Taylor Schilling's Piper was an initially sympathetic character as she entered Litchfield Penitentiary, it soon enough become clear that she was pretty much the least-interesting person in the entire prison.

The writers thankfully recognised this quickly, too, with Piper's role soon being dialed back somewhat to instead focus more on the terrific ensemble. With its fifth season due to start soon, Piper's presence basically now elicits eye-rolling most of the time, having evolved into such a whiny, entitled a**hole over the course of the show.

While there's a good chance you remember the narrative arcs of Crazy Eyes, Nicky, Red, and Poussey, don't feel bad if you can barely recall what Piper's been up to lately.
