The Simpsons A Complete Guide To our Favorite Family
20th Television

The Simpsons is perhaps the most influential television show ever created. Everybody knows it and regardless of whether they like it or not, it’s highly likely they’ve seen at least one episode.

Starting off as shorts on the Tracey Ullman Show and then becoming a full length American sitcom in 1989, The Simpsons have spanned out for an impressive 32 seasons and has become the longest running cartoon sitcom of all time.

The titular characters swiftly became everyone’s favourite fictional family thanks to their realism and relatability that was paired up with some hilarious stories. And it’s not just The Simpsons - the whole town of Springfield is filled with an ensemble of quirky, varied characters who have provided some excellent moments over the years while poking fun at pop culture and US society.

Yes, the show may have lost its charming sensibility years ago, but it’s still enjoyable to this day thanks to the nostalgic value of the characters and it’s easy-to-watch nature.

The love out there for the series' golden age is a testament to how The Simpsons dominated the nineties - even if the newer seasons aren't much to write home about.
