9. Mustang Vs Envy - Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood
One might say this one is cheating since it isn't really a fight, in the traditional sense. It's more Envy flailing angrily while Colonel Mustang charbroils him alive. Well, looking back at the confrontation, there's just enough back and forth for it to qualify as an actual fight, which was more than enough reason for me to stick it on this list.
Assuming you're one of the - like - three people left who haven't seen FMA: Brotherhood yet, the setup is rather simple. Mustang's best friend was murdered by the homunculus Envy at the end of the show's first act. During the final story arc, Mustang finds out that it was Envy what did the deed, and he proceeds to take Envy apart piece by piece.
Seeing as how Envy is the most hateful of the show's entire rogue's gallery - arrogant, boastful, sneering, and just really, REALLY stupid - it is of course a treat to see him brought so low so completely. Sure he gets a few hits in on Mustang's main squeeze Hawkeye, but that just makes Mustang angrier.
None of Envy's mind games work, his abilities are thoroughly countered at every turn by Mustang just setting him on fire (for example, Envy starts the fight by turning into his true form - a giant monster - and Mustang just sets his eyes on fire) and at the end, Envy can only scream in bottomless existential terror as Mustang continues burning him.
It's a brutal, satisfying take down of one of the show's most heinous villains.
