10 Best Arrowverse Performances Of 2019

Emotional breakdowns, villainous delights and quiet powerhouses - the Arrowverse had it all.

Supergirl Season 5 Kara Danvers Melissa Benoist
The CW

The end of the year (and decade) is upon us, and that means we can look back on everything that film, TV and pop-culture had to offer us in 2019. And when it comes to the TV conversation, it's inevitable that the Arrowverse is going to come up.

In hindsight, it's been a rather big year for the Arrowverse, hasn't it? Not only has it welcomed a brand new show (the first in three years) into its midst in Batwoman, it's also begun laying the groundwork for two more. To top it all off, the shared universe of costumed heroes has also been building towards its biggest crossover yet - something that came to fruition in the first three parts of Crisis On Infinite Earths.

Naturally, a major year such as this wouldn't be complete without some awe-inspiring performances. Yes, being on The CW, the actors of the Arrowverse are often overlooked at awards ceremonies when, in all honesty, some of them are every bit as formidable (if not better) than those who aren't.

With that in mind, let's take a look back at the Arrowverse's 2019 and admire the very best that its actors had to offer.

10. Rachel Skarsten

Supergirl Season 5 Kara Danvers Melissa Benoist
The CW

Show: Batwoman

Episode: 'Mine Is A Long And A Sad Tale'

If this writer is being honest, Rachel Skarsten's entry on this list could be based upon any of the episodes of Batwoman in which she has appeared so far. She's got this incredible ability to effortlessly shift between gleeful psychopath and heartbroken child in an instant, and that makes all of her performances that much more unpredictable.

However, it was the fifth episode of the season that delved into Alice's roots, and that allowed her to go that much further with it. Giving us an insight into why Batwoman's beloved sister had become such a depraved villain, Skarsten sold the heck out of Alice's emotional scars - giving life to every single word with eccentric mannerisms or emotive outbursts.

Batwoman still has a lot of work to do if it wants to catch up to its Arrowverse counterparts, but if it continues to rely on Skarsten's acting prowess, it could find its way there in 2020.
