10 Best BoJack Horseman Episodes Of All Time

6. Stupid Piece Of Sh*t (Season 4, Episode 6)

Raphael Bob-Waksberg has been pretty vocal about the fact that it was never his intention for BoJack to become the definitive TV show about addiction or depression, though he's also been clear that he's not unhappy with this label either. Which is good, because it would be a difficult label to shake after 'Stupid Piece of Sh*t'.

This episode is so effective, so accurate, and just so goddamn real in its depiction of depression - so much so that many have encouraged others to watch it if they really want to grasp what it's like to live with the condition day in, day out. Anyone who's suffered from depression in their life will tell you what it's like to live with that vile little voice in your head. The one that's always there and always happy to let you know just how worthless you really are.

Beyond being solely a portrait of mental illness, 'Stupid Piece of Sh*t' gives us another piece of the puzzle about why BoJack is the way he is and why he is who he is. More importantly, it highlights why it's so difficult for him to change and why he'd rather stay in his self-destructive rut. Because, if you had that voice following you around, would you try and change?
