As she so often does, Tina Fey strikes gold with this quirky comedy about an optimistic former Cult captive trying to get her life back on track in New York after spending her formative years trapped in an underground bunker. Tina Fey is one of the greatest comedy minds of our generation and this show absolutely oozes with her signature wit.
Every character is hilarious in their own unique way and they're anchored by superb casting throughout. Ellie Kemper, Jane Krakowski, Titus Burgess and, the all too fleetingly seen, Jon Hamm are stunning in every moment they spend on screen. Kemper especially seems like she was born to play this part and is revelling in every moment she spends in front of the camera.
The premise of the show could be equally leant to a great drama and it is credit to Tina Fey and her team of writers that it works so unbelievably well as a comedy. Jokes fly at you from every corner and they rarely fail to land. A genuinely funny and joyous watch, Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt is a true 'cult' classic (right?).
