10 Best Entourage Episodes
5. "Welcome To The Jungle"
Medellin is one of the most significant projects in Vincent Chase’s career, and while - as discussed - it turns out to be a disaster, this mock-doc opener to season four uses the ill fated Pablo Escobar project to delve into the triumphs and tribulations of the creative process with real verve.
With director Billy Walsh on the hunt for truth, the boys find themselves in the Colombian jungle making their passion project. Things look to be going swimmingly, but the shoot starts to unravel for the notice filmmakers. Walsh becomes a paranoid dictator and the budget spirals out of control.
Billy manages to find an ending in the end (not before they waste a chunk of cash on screenwriter Stephen Gaghan) and it seems that all has resolved itself - though things don’t go quite so smoothly this time.
The experimentation with the format and the expanded role for Rhys Coiro (Walsh) makes this a particularly distinctive and enjoyable episode of the show. The Medellin plot was among the show’s longest running - it’s good that we got to peep behind the curtain like this.
