10 Best Football TV Series To Stream While The Season Is On Hiatus
9. Take Us Home: Leeds United
Available on: Amazon Prime
Glory hunters can find plenty of football docuseries on streaming platforms about successful teams winning stuff. The likes of Manchester City and Juventus have their own series that are nothing but slick, polished product, marketing for the clubs' brand without much in the way of real conflict and drama.
Amazon's Take Us Home was clearly intended to do a similar job for Leeds United. Under new ownership and led by inspirational coach Marcelo Bielsa, Leeds's centenary year was supposed to be the one that led to them finally returning to the top flight. And, sure enough, the team raced into an early lead and the cameras were there to capture it all.
But what was intended as essentially a celebratory marketing exercise about winning the Championship, a promotional film about promotion, as it were, turned into something much more interesting as Leeds bottled it and blew their lead. Bielsa, meanwhile, proved every bit as much of a genius for controversy and a great sound bite as for tactics on the pitch.
For everyone who knows that being a football fan is as often about snatching defeat from the jaws as victory as it ever is about success, Take Us Home is the docuseries for you.
