10 Best Fusions In Steven Universe

A fusion many fans had been waiting for, Smoky Quartz yo-yoed their way onto screens in the 23rd episode of season 3, "Earthlings."

The fusion between Amethyst and Steven, Smoky Quartz was the first time Steven fused with a Gem. Fans knew Steven had the ability to fuse with another human (more on that later), but wondered when they'd see him fuse with one of the Crystal Gems. It took 3 seasons and was it worth the wait? Absolutely.

Smoky Quartz has 3 arms, 1 right arm and 2 left arms (connected at the elbow). Their body is a blend of Steven and Amethyst's thicker build and both character's features are present in Smoky's face and hair. Smoky's weapon of choice is a yo-yo (up to 3) made from Amethyst's whip and Steven's shield. Like both Steven and Amethyst, Smoky Quartz's personality is carefree, happy-go-lucky, and confident in their fighting skills, but as seen in the episode "Know Your Fusion," they also share in the self-doubt both Steven and Amethyst have shown in other episodes.

Smoky Quartz was voiced by America actress Natasha Lyonne, better known for her role as Nicky Nichols on the Netflix show Orange is the New Black.

Smoky Quartz is also the first fusion whose weapon wasn't a typical weapon. It reflects Steven's personality and child-like imagination while still being effective in a fight.
