The Locke & Key comic book series was first published by IDW Publishing back in February 2008, but fans of the supernatural horror series would have to wait 12 years for the series to make the jump to the world of television.

Developed by Carlton Cuse, Meredith Averill, and Aron Eli Coleite for streaming on Netflix, Locke & Key revolves around the story of a mother and her three children moving into a stately home named Keyhouse, where they discover various keys that can open magical doors around the house.

The show is definitely there to capitalise on the teen wave craze brought about from releases like Stranger Things, and it's delivered with the same sort of high production value and gloss that makes this subgenre of shows so popular. And it seems to have worked, with the show enjoying some really positive receptions from critics and audiences alike.

There's some nice pacing employed to keep things moving, sensitive subjects such as trauma are cleverly explored and represented, and there are more than a good few references from the spooky source material to ensure that this is a faithful recreation for fans of the original comic books.

Horror fan, gamer, all round subpar content creator. Strongly believes that Toad is the real hero of the Mario universe, and that we've probably had enough Batman origin stories.
