8. Harry Maybourne (Tom McBeath)
Colonel Maybourne was an interesting duck. He was an Air Force Colonel assigned to the NID, meaning that he really worked for the overly shady organisation that stole alien technology from Earth's allies. While he was eventually captured for collaborating with the Russians, he would go on to be of great help and hinderance to Jack O'Neill as the seasons went on.
From trying to detain the Tolan, to having Teal'c's symbiote experimented upon, to being a surprisingly reassuring face during the episode Foothold, Maybourne got into a lot of scrapes in uniform and more out of them. After escaping from prison, he and O'Neill worked together a few times to uncover NID secrets, calling themselves Starsky and Hutch.
Eventually, Maybourne was allowed to go and live on another world in retirement, where he would become a prophecy reading king amongst them and introduce his people to more modern agriculture. He started off as a bad guy, but he seriously loosened up as time went on and wound up bringing a genuine smile when you saw his name in the credits for an episode.
