10 Best Performances In Better Call Saul
2. Rhea Seehorn (Kim Wexler)
Like Walter White and Jimmy McGill before her, Kim Wexler has evolved into an entirely different character over five seasons of Better Call Saul. The show, as well as Breaking Bad, is full of people who are sure they’re the smartest person in the room - Kim might be the one character who can accurately make that claim.
Rhea Seehorn’s is a patient performance. In the first couple of seasons, she wasn’t given a great deal to work with - she was a foil for Jimmy, a shoulder to cry on, someone to keep him from truly breaking bad.
But Seehorn bestows her character with depths of moral uncertainty. We saw early on that Kim was at least intrigued by Jimmy’s old trickster ways, but in the most recent season especially, Seehorn has made the steady descent of Kim the most fascinating part of the show. Season five’s finale suggests Kim is ready to truly walk on the wild side, and it’ll be interesting to see what Seehorn does with this.
Her performance is one of the most subtle in a franchise that leans more broad, and it’s all the more captivating for it. That Kim’s fate is one of the few we don’t yet know makes it all the more absorbing.
