10 Best Performances In Breaking Bad

1. Jesse Plemons - Todd Alquist

You have to be a pretty audacious talent to turn up in the final season of a show and somehow emerge as the best actor in the entire thing, but such is the tale of Jesse Plemons.

Plemons is easily one of the best character actors working right now - watch him in Game Night and you will be utterly sold on his skill - but he was largely unknown when he turned up in season 5 as fumigator Todd. And even before El Camino fleshed out the character a little more and the depth of his psychopathy became obvious, he was unbelievably good and hugely watchable in Breaking Bad.

Combining a sort of childlike simplicity with a strange sort of charm, he's intense but completely unassuming and though Tuco is great because you know he's a coiled spring waiting to pop, Todd is even better because you haven't the tiniest clue of where his brain is at. He's a monster without any of the outlying indicators and Plemons makes him chilling and unsettling and brilliant in equal measure.

Watching him in El Camino just confirms everything his all-too-short a part in Breaking Bad had already laid out.
