10 Best Performances In Game Of Thrones

3. Nikolaj Coster-Waldau - Jaime Lannister

Jorah Dany Game Of Thrones
HBO

The first Lannister sibling to make the list, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau portrayed the legendary Kingslayer Ser Jaime Lannister on all eight seasons of Thrones and he was exceptional throughout. Of all the character arcs on the show, Jaime goes through the biggest change in regards to audience reaction.

Before Joffrey ordered the execution of Ned Stark or Tywin Lannister took centre stage, Jaime was the closest thing to a main villain the show had as he pushed a young Bran Stark out of a tower with the intent to kill him. Seasons pass and we begin to learn more about Jaime's history and the reasons he is the way he is and, through that understanding, Jaime begins to standout as one of the most beloved anti-heroes on the show.

Re-watching those earlier seasons, you can see the masterful work Coster-Waldau is doing as he never devolves into a one dimensional villain and clearly has layers that will later be explored. The subtlety in his performance strengthens the emotional connection to the character and is the mark of phenomenal actor.
