10 Best Performances In The Walking Dead
6. Jon Bernthal - Shane Walsh
In nineteen episodes (not counting his Season Nine cameo), Jon Bernthal proved to be the breakout star of the first two seasons of The Walking Dead. Portraying the unhinged love rival of protagonist Rick Grimes, Bernthal was a blast to watch from his first to last appearance.
Thanks to more recent roles in Daredevil, The Punisher and The Wolf of Wall Street, Bernthal has proven to be one of Hollywood's most explosive and intense actors. But it was in the zombie drama that he really broke onto the scene, owning every scene he got regardless of who he was acting beside. Shane's decent into villainy and insanity was beautifully written, but made all the more compelling by Bernthal's commitment to the character.
Not an easy character to pull off, Bernthal made it look effortless and helped make the show into the phenomenon it is today. He should maybe have stuck around a little bit longer, but what we got to see was about as good as TV acting can get.
