10 Best Reoccurring Jokes In Avatar The Last Airbender

Sokka may not be able to bend elements, but he sure is good at turning heads. He has had a few romantic interests in the show, most notably Yue and Suki, but there are a few subtle but not secretive hints that tough and rough earth-bender Toph might have some feelings for Sokka herself.

We see this precisely twice during the show, one being when thinking she was saved by Sokka she kisses Suki on the cheek and then proceeds to ask her to "let me drown now" after finding out it was Suki all along.

The second being upon Sokka's return from sword training when his appearance makes her blush, a sign of romance since the beginning of the show.

This is a great story-telling joke as it lets us see a side to Toph that the characters don't. There is a sensitivity behind her which often is overlooked by the other team members, and through this consistent joke, we can see a little more into Toph's more romantic side.
