10 Best Sex Education Episodes
9. Season 1 - Episode 6
Episode 6 acted at the pitch before the swing at the end of the first season, in that all that was to come was thrown to the batter.
Maeve's brother Sean arrives back and they fight about where he has been, Otis and Lily try to have sex but Otis can't do it because of his deep-seated issues surrounding sex, and Jean breaks her plumbing so Jakob will come and fix it for her.
Though Eric's story is the best thing here, he is still mad at Otis for leaving him to get robbed and assaulted, so he tries to dress down and ignore the issues that have caused him so much pain. However, the repression of the event leads him to brilliantly insult a teacher and punch Anwar, who may or may not have deserved it.
Eric's mental state is fractured and his struggles are made worse by his argument with Otis and crumbling bond with his Dad.
The fragility of the episode is what makes it good. Eric's focus is a wise choice and seeing such a lively character beaten down is sad to see. Without his usual flamboyant context, Eric feels vulnerable.
