10 Best Simpsons Guest Stars (Who Played Themselves)
1. Mark Hamill
Mark Hamill certainly has a leg up on his fellow celebrity cameo stars, and by how brilliant his performance is, you can see that evidenced in spades. Though he’s best known for playing Luke Skywalker (which he also parodies on the show), Hamill’s had a wonderful voiceover career, most notably playing the Joker.
Stepping up for The Simpsons shouldn’t have been an issue for Hamill then, and his performance tells you all you need to know. He’s hilarious as a slightly goofy, divaish parody of himself, needing Homer’s bodyguarding skills to save him from the nerds at BiMonSciFiCon.
Once that convention is over and done with though, The Simpsons is careful not to waste their chance to work with Hamill. He then appears in a Guys & Dolls musical, clearly having the time of his life on the show. Hamill pushed the boundaries of a celebrity guest and ended up being the funniest thing in the episode.
For many years, Hamill even used the Simpsonsized version of himself as his Twitter avatar. Given how well received his cameo on the show was, it’s no surprise he wanted to showcase it.
