4. Apprentice - Parts 1 & 2 (1.12/1.13)
Coming hot off the heels of Masks, Apprentice, the two-part finale to season one, shows Robin's perpetual battle with Slade truly come into its own. This is the episode that cemented Slade as the Joker to Robin's Batman, as it were.
Slade may hate Robin just as much as Robin hates him, but he's also no fool and knows sheer talent when he sees it. So, Slade reveals a device to the Titans with the power to stop time forever, prompting them to try and take him down before he can end the world as we know it. However, once Slade gets Robin alone, he reveals that it was all an elaborate ruse.
His actual plan was to inject the Titans with microscopic probes that he can use to kill them at his leisure and take Robin on as his apprentice. If Robin doesn't do everything Slade says, then his friends die. Not only does this episode show Slade at his villainous best, but it's easily one of the most tense episodes in all of Teen Titans, as it took a major roll of the dice on Robin's part to escape with his and his friends lives.
All and all, it was a perfect way to wrap up the first season.
