10 Best Thanksgiving TV Episodes
9. Seinfeld - The Mom & Pop Store
Described as 'a show about nothing', Seinfeld is arguably the most critically acclaimed sitcom of all time. Created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld, the show ran for nine seasons on NBC, ending in May 1998.
At this point, Seinfeld is one of the cornerstones of popular culture, influencing countless modern television comedies and comedians. The show centred on a group of (rather eccentric) friends living in an apartment in New York City, and detailed the various situations in which they found themselves. Two of the main strands of this particular episode focus on George Costanza's buying of a car he believes belongs to the actor Jon Voight and Jerry's confusion (and subsequent crashing) of a Thanksgiving party he's not entirely certain he's been invited to.
It's your typical Seinfeld hilarity set against the backdrop of the holiday, and one of the funniest Thanksgiving specials on this list. Not only that, but according to one of the episode's writers Tom Gammill, George's buying of the car was inspired by real events. Gammill was tricked by a car salesman into buying a car he thought belonged to the acclaimed actor. Talk about art mirroring reality.
