10 Best Time Travel TV Episodes

10. Supernatural - Mystery Spot

Our first entry is a loving homage to Groundhog Day that could only be improved with the presence of Bill Murray himself. Much like the movie, Sam finds himself reliving the same day over and over again. if that wasn't bad enough, his brother Dean dies in front of him every single day. Sam sets about changing what he and Dean do to prevent his death but nothing works. Staying in a diner leads to him choking on a sausage. Staying indoors leads to him slipping in the shower, electrocuting himself and even dying from a dodgy takeaway. It turns out that a prankster demi-god named The Trickster is responsible for the time loop. He agrees to stop messing around and Sam finds himself waking up to a brand new day. The curse has been lifted, right? Wrong! Dean ends up getting shot in a botched mugging and dies for real this time. Sam doesn't wake up. Driven insane by grief, he spends months trying to track down The Trickster. He eventually does, and pleads with him to take him back in time so he can save his brother, who reluctantly agrees. The brothers are reunited and everything is fine in the world (until one of them dies again, anyway). Mystery Spot proves that not all time travel stories have to be original. Sometimes it's fun to just play around with an established concept and put your own morbid twist on it.

When I'm not playing games, I'm probably either writing about them somewhere or singing stupid songs inspired by them. Or eating pizza.
